The club is one of the oldest clubs at the University and the biggest Taekwondo club in Birmingham. Our members have included Olympic hopefuls, members of the Great Britain University Team, and BSTF Student Nationals Gold Medallists.
We train 3 times a week in the new, state-of-the-art University of Birmingham Sport and Fitness Centre. The club teaches all abilites, from beginners to Dan grades, and caters to all interests, be it Poomsae, Kyorugi, self-defence or fitness. With 3 gradings a year, we make sure all our students are the very best they can be.
Alongside training we have socials, seminars run by our chief-instructor Master Stephen Blomeley (6th Dan – Ki Taekwondo Stockport/Manchester), regular competitions for Kyorugi and Poomsae, and free extra training sessions.
We are a World Taekwondo (WT) style club, but we openly welcome those from other federations. Our members are part of the Ki Taekwondo Association which is part of British Taekwondo and as such can compete in national and international competitions that are sanctioned by World Taekwondo.
Jim has been in the club for more than 13 years and has trained with Ki Taekwondo from the beginning. As lead-instructor Jim takes care of the main training on Wednesday and Friday. With his experience he is the ideal coach to prepare our members for grading. As student of our chief instructor Master Blomeley he went through all of the clubs gradings and knows them inside out. Besides grading preparation Jim is an expert when it comes to fitness and excercising. As personal trainer and lecturer with more than 14 years of experience in the field, Jim brings not only know-how about Taekwondo, but also general fitness excercising and healthy lifestyle into the club.
